A. the sonicTransporter many different players. The sonicTransporter can run Roon Core Server to support any Roon Ready device.
The sonicTransporter also supports SMB network shares for your Sonos player and DLNA for other network players.
We also support the Squeezebox protocol. With these three protocols, virtually any network music player will work with the sonicTransporter.
Q. Will my DAC work with the Rendu Series Players without a driver
A. Drives are required on Windows because Windows does not support the USB 2.0 audio spec. The Rendu series players support the USB 2.0 audio spec so it can use and USB 2.0 audio spec compliant DAC with no drive. 99.9% of DACs work right out of the box with Rendu series players.
Q. Can I copy my existing digital music collection to the sonicTransporter?
A. Yes! The sonicTransporter shows up on your home network. Just click on it in your network folder and "drag" your music over to it.
Q. How many CDs will my sonicTransporter i5 CDR hold?
A. 1TB can hold 1500 - 2500 CDs depending on the file compression type.
Q. How do I control playback of music to my Rendu Series Player
A. This is usually done through an app on your smartphone or tablet.
Q. Can I replace my CD player or CD changer with a sonicTransporter i5 CDR?
A. Yes! The sonicTransporter i5 CDR (or other sonicTransporters with an External CD Ripper) will rip CDs and you can play them back to a USB DAC attached to a Rendu series player
Q. What is the proper method to power down my sonicTransporter?
A. It's best to leave the sonicTransporter on all the time. It uses very little power If you want to shut it down you can use the shutdown button in the web interface. You can also tap (not hold) the power button on the front.
Q. Do any of the “available apps” in Software Manager allow the Rendu Series Players to access streaming services?
A. Roon has the best integration with TIDAL and Qobuz of any playback software. They also support free streaming radio.
The squeezebox software supports streaming. It has 1000s of streaming radio stations as well as TIDAL, Qobuz and others. If you are having problems getting these to work, please reach out to us as we are happy to assist.
Q. Can I install Windows software such as jRiver on my sonicTransporter?
A. No, you can only use the server apps we provide. These include Roon, DLNA server, Plex Media Server, Squeezebox Server, and may others.
