Your Rendu Just Got a New Operating System

Sonore has released Sonicorbiter 3.0 — the biggest software upgrade in the Rendu's history, and the first full rebuild of the operating system since the microRendu launched in 2016.

This was not a patch. The apps and the software underneath them were rebuilt from the ground up on a new Linux base — nothing was simply carried over from 2.9. That is what makes everything below possible, and it gives Sonore room to keep building on the Rendu for years to come.

So far we have not found a Rendu it won't run on, including players we shipped nine and ten years ago.

What's new

  • A much simpler interface — click the app, it works
  • Apps stay current, including HQPlayer NAA
  • AES67 / Ravenna support, and Qobuz Connect
  • A DAC Diagnostics page showing exactly what your DAC is receiving
  • Sonore Library, so you can play music stored right on the player
  • Faster reboots, broader DAC support, and a one-button way back to a previous version

What the reviewers are saying

Audiophile Style has already reviewed 3.0 and told every Rendu owner to upgrade.

“The biggest software upgrade in Sonore's history.”

One thing to know before you upgrade

3.0 moves the Rendu to a new Linux base, so it cannot be installed over the air from Software Manager the way several past updates could. Every Rendu needs a new microSD card with the 3.0 image on it.

There are two ways to do that.

Option 1 — we do it for you

We'll send you a card

$69, shipped free. A SanDisk High Endurance 128GB card, already imaged for your exact player and tested before it ships.

Option 2 — do it yourself

Download it free

The download is free. You'll need to buy your own High Endurance 128GB card and set aside under 30 minutes.

Keep your old card

Either way, hold on to the card that's in your player today. Nothing gets overwritten. If 3.0 isn't for you, put the old one back in and you're on 2.9 again in under a minute.

Fair warning: 3.0 is still officially in beta. We would rather tell you that now than have you find out later. That old card in your drawer is exactly why we're comfortable recommending it anyway.
