Sonore — Rendu software update

The biggest software upgrade in Sonore's history, ready to install.

SonicOrbiter 3.0 is a complete rebuild of the Rendu operating system — new interface, always-current apps, and support for every Rendu we have ever made, from the 2016 microRendu to the Signature Rendu SE Deluxe.

Why you need a new card

Version 3.0 moves the Rendu from Fedora Linux to Debian Linux. That change is invisible in daily use, but it means 3.0 cannot be installed over the air from Software Manager the way past updates could. Every Rendu needs a card written with the new image. There is no way around it.

This is that card — a SanDisk® High Endurance microSD™ Card 128GB, already imaged with the correct build for your specific player, tested before it ships.

What's new in 3.0

A much simpler interface.

Click the app, it works. Hide anything you don't use.

Apps stay current.

HQPlayer NAA and others were frozen on older versions under 2.9. Now they track the developers' releases.

Slot A / Slot B.

If a future update ever misbehaves, your player boots the last known-good version. One button to go back.

AES67 / Ravenna support.

Up to 24-bit / 96kHz.

Qobuz Connect.

Tested and working.

DAC Diagnostics.

See exactly what your DAC is receiving and every rate it supports.

Sonore Library.

Expand the card to its full capacity and play music stored right on the Rendu.

Lyrion Music Server.

Long-term support, restored.

Tailscale.

For secure remote access.

Faster reboots.

And broader DAC support, including devices that previously needed a reboot to connect.

Your old card is your safety net

Nothing gets overwritten. Your existing 2.9 card comes out and goes in a drawer. If 3.0 turns out not to be for you, put the old card back in and you are on 2.9 again in about 45 seconds. Keep that card.

Two ways to get SonicOrbiter 3.0

We would rather tell you both, plainly.

Do it yourselfThe cost of an mSD card, and under 30 minutes of your time

Buy a SanDisk® High Endurance microSD™ Card 128GB, sign in at sonicorbiter.com, download the image for your player, and write it to the card with Rufus (Windows) or Balena Etcher (Mac). It is free to download. The card is not, and the work is yours.

The same card, already imaged with the correct build for your exact player, tested, and backed by our support if anything doesn't go the way it should.

If you would rather spend an evening listening than writing disk images, this is the one to buy.

Not sure which player you have? Call or email us and we will sort it out before you order.

A note on Early Access

SonicOrbiter 3.0 is still technically in beta. With this many devices in the field, on this many different networks and DACs, some issues only surface in real homes. We would rather say that up front than have you find out later. The rollback above is exactly why we are comfortable recommending it — and version 2.9 continues to work if you would rather wait.

Pull the old card out, put this one in, and your Rendu is running SonicOrbiter 3.0.

Lifetime free technical support, from the people who build these. If the card doesn't boot, we will make it right.

Warranty & support: Backed by a 30-day return policy and lifetime free US-based technical support.
